Global Talent Partners is delighted to present an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinarian to step into a Medical Director position with a well-established companion animal hospital in San Diego, California.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a clinically strong veterinarian looking to combine hands-on medicine with genuine leadership responsibility. You'll join a close-knit hospital with an experienced veterinary and technical team, a loyal client base and an impressive surgical caseload, while working closely with hospital and regional leadership to shape clinical standards and the future direction of the practice.

About the Practice

The hospital has been serving the San Diego community for more than six decades and provides comprehensive medical, surgical and preventative care for dogs and cats.

You'll work alongside experienced veterinarians, veterinary technicians and support professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality medicine. The practice has particularly strong relationships with local animal rescue organizations and sees a significant senior pet population, creating a diverse and rewarding caseload.

Clinical services include:
• Preventative healthcare and wellness examinations
• Puppy and kitten care
• Geriatric and senior pet medicine
• Vaccinations and parasite prevention
• Internal medicine
• Urgent care during regular hospital hours
• Soft tissue surgery
• Orthopedic surgery
• TPLO procedures
• Femoral head ostectomy procedures

The hospital is particularly well suited to a veterinarian with strong surgical interests. Advanced orthopedic and soft tissue procedures are performed, while comprehensive in-house diagnostics include digital radiography, ultrasound, laboratory testing and a stocked veterinary pharmacy.

The Leadership Opportunity

As Medical Director, you'll play a central role in maintaining and developing the hospital's medical standards while continuing to see your own patients and remain actively involved in clinical practice.

Key leadership responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing medical standards and quality of care
• Developing and implementing clinical policies
• Mentoring and coaching veterinarians
• Leading regular doctor meetings
• Reviewing medical records to promote clinical excellence
• Supporting communication and case transfer between doctors
• Identifying opportunities to introduce new clinical services
• Providing input into new equipment and hospital investment
• Supporting DVM recruitment and interviews
• Monitoring doctor performance and providing constructive coaching
• Working closely with hospital management on clinical and operational strategy

The successful candidate should bring strong diagnostic, surgical and dental skills alongside excellent communication and leadership abilities. Previous leadership experience would be beneficial, although an experienced veterinarian ready to take the next step into medical leadership may also be considered.
