Step into a flexible Locum Veterinarian role in San Jose and practice high-quality medicine with a collaborative, well-supported team. Compensation up to $200,000.

The Hospital
This is a full-service small-animal hospital serving dogs and cats, known locally for thorough clinical care and a steady wellness caseload. The team-based environment includes experienced veterinarians, technician support, and client-service staff who value communication and collaboration. Facilities include a surgical suite, dedicated recovery and hospitalization areas, an isolation ward, and an in-house pharmacy. Onsite diagnostics feature an in-house laboratory, radiography, ultrasound, dental imaging, and basic cardiac monitoring. The hospital provides preventive and primary care, dentistry, routine and general surgery, hospitalization and intensive care, and easy client tools such as online booking, refill support, and membership-style wellness plans. The practice aligns with AAHA standards and fosters a culture of mentorship, continuous learning, and low-stress patient handling.

The Role
- Provide per diem clinical coverage across wellness exams, vaccinations, dentistry (including dental imaging), routine and general surgery, and inpatient care
- Manage cases end-to-end with access to onsite laboratory, radiography, ultrasound, and pharmacy
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based medicine with a focus on low-stress handling and client education
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support efficient, high-quality patient flow
- Contribute to a balanced caseload that includes preventive care, medical workups, and surgical procedures
- Typical coverage includes weekdays with some Saturdays; Sundays are not required. Evening availability may be requested during extended clinic hours

Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree (or equivalent)
- License to practice in California (or eligibility to obtain)
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Strong clinical judgment, commitment to high standards of care, and excellent communication skills
- Comfort working collaboratively within a technician-supported, team-based environment
