VCA South Dade Animal Hospital is hiring a full time Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

At VCA South Dade Animal Hospital, every day brings something new. As a busy general practice caring for dogs, cats, and a wide variety of exotic species-including birds, reptiles, rabbits, pocket pets, and other small mammals-you'll have the opportunity to build your skills alongside an experienced and collaborative medical team. Compensation: $17 - $27 / hr Is based on skill set, and experience.

Schedule: Full time, weekend rotation required.

Veterinary Assistant - Skills & Responsibilities

• Passion for animal care and exceptional client service.
• Safely handle dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, and other exotic species using low-stress handling techniques.
• Assist veterinarians and credentialed technicians with exams, treatments, diagnostics, surgery, and anesthesia.
• Support patient care across all hospital departments, including outpatient, treatment, surgery, dentistry, laboratory, and inpatient care.
• Obtain patient histories, collect laboratory samples, administer treatments as directed, and maintain accurate medical records.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, surgical suites, and medical equipment.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes to the medical team.
• Educate clients on preventive care, medications, and species-specific husbandry.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating strong communication, teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail.
• Maintain a positive attitude and a commitment to continued learning, especially in the care of exotic animal species.
