The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood is looking for a Veterinary Assistant / Pet Care Attendant!

Position Details

Role: Veterinary Assistant / Pet Care Attendant (Cross-Trained)
Status: Full-time
Salary: Negotiable and based on experience
Schedule:  Requires open availability Saturday through Sunday. This is a cross-trained position, so some shifts will be weekends in boarding from 7 am - 6 pm, and some shifts will be during the week in a veterinary technician assistant's position.

The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood is looking for a compassionate, motivated team member to join us in a unique cross-trained role as a Veterinary Assistant and Pet Care Attendant. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to build experience in both patient care and clinical support.

You'll split your time between caring for our boarding and resort guests while supporting our doctors and technicians with medical cases. Whether you're helping a hospitalized patient recover, comforting a boarding guest, or assisting during an exam, you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional care to every pet that walks through our doors.

What You'll Do

  • Care for boarding and hospitalized pets through feeding, walking, bathing, cleaning, and daily enrichment
  • Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, and hospital areas while maintaining a safe and organized environment
  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient restraint, examinations, and medical procedures
  • Observe patient behavior, comfort, and overall health, reporting changes to the medical team
  • Administer oral and topical medications as directed by the veterinarian
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment logs
  • Provide exceptional customer service during admissions, discharges, and patient updates
  • Support both the medical and boarding teams to ensure outstanding patient care

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the position
