Vickery Place Animal Hospital is a modern, compassionate, and highly collaborative veterinary practice. Our team prides itself on delivering exceptional patient care and an outstanding client experience. We are technician-driven and deeply committed to a “work-as-a-team” culture where every role is valued and supported.
About the Role – Veterinary Assistant
We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant with some prior assistant experience and a genuine passion for animal care. In this role, you will provide daily care, feeding, and exercise for boarding pets, closely monitoring them for any signs of stress or changes in behavior. You’ll assist our veterinary technicians and veterinarians by maintaining clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment and surgery areas, and by following proper feeding and sanitation procedures.
This role also involves in-person client interaction, so strong communication and customer service skills are key. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is a great culture fit—someone who thrives in a technician-led, collaborative environment and enjoys working closely with a supportive, team-oriented staff.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Provide daily care, feeding, and monitoring for hospitalized and boarding pets
Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams, treatments, and procedures
Safely restrain animals and support a technician-driven, team-oriented workflow
Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment, exam, and surgery areas
Take and schedule appointments and gather accurate patient histories
Perform basic diagnostics, monitor anesthesia, and assist with dental cleanings
Conduct diagnostic imaging, including radiographs
Follow proper sanitation, handling, and patient-care protocols
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
High school diploma or GED required
Preferred have at least 1 year of veterinary medicine experience
Must be a bright, friendly, and effective communicator in order to communicate with clients, visitors, veterinarians, and other hospital staff. (It’s okay if you talk to animals, too!)
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move freely for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift 50 squirming pounds
Must be able to work in a veterinary environment with exposure to infection or contagious diseases
