Lange Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service small animal general practice serving the Knoxville, TN community for over 30 years. We are known for our compassionate, high-quality veterinary care for dogs, cats, and small mammals. Our facility is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, and we pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive, collaborative, and client-focused environment.

We’re currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant with at least 1–2 years of clinical experience to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced veterinarians and a close-knit team that’s passionate about providing exceptional patient care and building lasting relationships with pet owners.

Work Days:
4 Day Work Week, schedule to be determined.
Rotating Saturdays: 2 Saturdays/month required
Clinic Hours:
  • Monday - Friday 7:30 AM –  6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Closed Sundays

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:


Patient Care & Clinical Support
  • Assist in diagnostic procedures: blood draws, urinalysis, radiology, ultrasound, and in-house lab work
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist in surgeries, dental procedures, and post-op care
  • Prepare and assist with surgical and dental procedures in a sterile environment
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments (e.g., wound care, fluid therapy)
  • Handle critical care and emergency patients with calm, competent support
  • Provide safe and compassionate patient handling at all times
  • Explain treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions to pet owners
  • Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and behavior
  • Ensure all clients feel welcomed, heard, and supported
  • Accurately update electronic medical records (EMR) with treatments, progress, and communications
  • Assist with inventory management: tracking supplies, ordering, and proper storage
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized clinical environment
  • Support a team-oriented workflow, assisting colleagues during busy or emergency situations
  • Surgical Assistance: Prep, monitoring, and support during surgeries
  • Dentistry: Perform dental cleanings, assist with extractions, and operate dental radiography
  • Emergency Care: Respond quickly to triage situations and support veterinarians in critical cases

Skills Knowledge and Expertise


  • 1–2 years minimum experience in a veterinary hospital required
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) preferred but not required
  • Experience with general practice and full-service veterinary care highly preferred
  • Graduates of accredited veterinary technician programs are encouraged to apply
  • Strong veterinary medical knowledge
  • Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance
  • Excellent communication skills with both clients and colleagues
  • Reliable time management and multitasking abilities
  • Team-focused, collaborative mindset
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
  • Physical stamina to lift animals and stand for extended periods
