Full-Time Veterinary Assistant

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Practice Manager and Doctors of Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Assistant supports medical and surgical operations while delivering exceptional client service. This role works closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, and surgical procedures
  • Monitor pets before, during, and after anesthesia
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs
  • Prepare surgical templates and maintain accurate medical records
  • Administer and prepare vaccines according to protocol
  • Prepare patient medications and maintain pharmacy logs
  • Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
  • Assist with patient restraint and aseptic techniques
  • Perform ear cleanings and nail trims
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Maintain clean and organized treatment and surgery areas
  • Support front desk and scheduling operations as needed
  • Provide compassionate, professional customer service to clients and pets

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required
  • Veterinary experience preferred
  • Knowledge of veterinary software and computer systems preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented attitude with willingness to learn and grow
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality required
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Must be comfortable working around animals in a clinical setting
