The Role
- Lead the medical team as the clinical voice of the hospital, setting and upholding standards of care
- Provide hands-on general practice care, including preventive medicine, dentistry, soft-tissue surgery, and urgent-care level cases
- Utilize on-site diagnostics and imaging to guide timely, high-quality decision making
- Mentor and develop veterinarians and support staff through coaching, case review, and regular doctor meetings
- Partner with the Practice Manager on scheduling, workflows, inventory, and operational priorities
- Ensure accurate medical records, appropriate charging, and consistent client communication
- Oversee compliance for controlled substances, radiation safety, and equipment maintenance
- Engage with the local community to strengthen client relationships and support hospital growth
- Participate in a Saturday schedule as part of the clinic’s service model
Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- License to practice (or ability to obtain) in California
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Strong medical, surgical, and dentistry skills with a commitment to high-quality, compassionate care
- Excellent communication and client-education abilities
- Prior leadership experience (Lead Veterinarian, Chief of Staff, or Medical Director) preferred
