Job Description

Lead medical excellence and mentor doctors as an Area Chief of Staff in Colorado Springs, with total compensation up to $206,000. This is a hospital-based leadership role that blends clinical practice with building a high-performing, supportive veterinary team.

The Hospital
- Busy general-practice environment offering preventive care, routine vaccinations, dental cleanings, spay/neuter and general surgery, gastrointestinal and orthopedic assessments, parasite prevention/treatment, and compassionate end-of-life care.

- In-house pharmacy and online pharmacy options; convenient drop-off appointments to support client access and efficient workflows.

The Role
- Full-time, hospital-based leadership and clinical position overseeing medical quality, culture, and outcomes across assigned hospitals.
- Lead, coach, and develop associate veterinarians; support skill-building in clinical, surgical, and dental procedures through structured onboarding and ongoing feedback.
- Provide clinical care as a working manager; clinical time flexes with the needs of assigned locations.
- Partner with hospital leadership to deliver consistent, patient- and client-centered standards of care and strong operational results.
- Review medical records and quality metrics; conduct case reviews and patient-safety follow-ups to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, including controlled substance management and adherence to state and federal requirements.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship for veterinarians, students, and externs; help build a local pipeline of talent.
- Promote access to care, excellent client communication, and timely resolution of medical concerns.
- Oversee medical equipment needs and prioritize investments that support quality and efficiency.

Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited institution (or equivalent)
- Active Colorado veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
- DEA registration (or eligibility)
- 3+ years of clinical experience, including proficiency with routine surgery and dentistry; prior leadership of veterinarians strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; comfortable with medical software and digital record systems
- Ability to travel locally between assigned hospitals as needed
- Authorization to work in the United States
