Lead and inspire veterinary teams as an Area Chief of Staff in Livingston, NJ, earning up to $190,000. This full-time, hospital-based leadership role blends hands-on clinical practice with coaching, quality oversight, and operational impact.

This small-animal general practice focuses on preventive and wellness care for dogs and cats, supported by a collaborative, education-driven culture. The clinic operates within a convenient retail-colocated setting with options for drop-off appointments and a client-education mindset. The medical team includes veterinarians, credentialed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, client service coordinators, and shift leads. On-site capabilities include:

The Role
- Provide medical leadership across assigned local hospitals, developing and retaining associate veterinarians through coaching, feedback, and career planning
- Serve as the Responsible Veterinarian for required permits; ensure compliant controlled-substance management
- Reinforce high standards of care that are safe, effective, patient- and client-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable
- Perform medical record reviews, quality audits, and patient safety reviews; implement action plans to close gaps
- Partner with practice managers to achieve clinical and operational KPIs while elevating team engagement
- Recruit, interview, and onboard veterinarians; support student externs and candidates during hospital visits
- Lead coaching for new doctors; build clinical, surgical, and dental capabilities through experiential learning
- Maintain a working clinical schedule while serving as a hospital-based leader
- Promote outstanding client communication and address medical concerns promptly
- Manage medical equipment needs and requests in collaboration with leadership
- Build a succession pipeline and mentor future veterinary leaders
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, radiation safety, and accurate medical records
- Support access to care through efficient, team-based workflows and thoughtful scheduling

Requirements
- DVM/VMD (or equivalent) with an active New Jersey veterinary license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Eligible to work in the United States
- DEA registration and New Jersey controlled substance credentials (or ability to obtain)
- Proven small-animal clinical experience, including surgery and dentistry; prior leadership or mentorship experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead doctors and multidisciplinary teams with strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Proficient with digital medical records and standard clinical software
- Organized, data-informed, and comfortable balancing clinical and leadership duties
- Willingness to travel locally between assigned hospitals; availability for some weekend coverage
