Position Overview
Mohawk Alley Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinarianinterested in Leadership (Medical Director) to lead our dedicated team of 6 DVMs in providing high-quality care for our small animal patients. As the Medical Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the medical quality and operations of our practice while collaborating with a team of wonderful, supportive doctors who believe in a team-oriented, Fear Free Certified environment.

Our practice is known for its supportive and inclusive culture, making it the perfect environment for those who enjoy leading by example and fostering the growth of the next generation of veterinarians. We mentor new grads with personalized mentorship plans, ensuring each veterinarian has the opportunity to excel in areas such as surgery, dentistry, radiology interpretation, and clinical consultation.
With a 3:1 staff-to-doctor ratio, our practice provides a full range of general practice services for dogs and cats, including radiology, ultrasound, and surgery. We are equipped with advanced technology, including mobile ultrasound, digital X-ray machines for both full-body and dental radiographs, IDEXX in-house diagnostic machines, and Imagyst, ensuring the highest standard of care for our patients.

The Medical Director (MD) is responsible for providing strong leadership for the hospital, managing and mentoring associate veterinarians, and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. The MD is also responsible for maintaining an environment of teamwork in which the highest quality veterinary medicine is delivered. In partnership with the hospital leadership team, the MD holds shared responsibility for the financial health of the hospital, directing staff and the overall management of practice operations. The MD also serves as a staff veterinarian in addition to the administrative and leadership duties of the MD role. Effective MDs demonstrate strong work and professional ethics, a positive attitude, and uphold a high standard of patient care. They are part of the foundation upon which successful veterinary practices are built and directly impact and influence hospital culture and morale.
