The Role
- Provide medical leadership for a group of hospitals, cultivating a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
- Coach and develop associate veterinarians through structured onboarding, skills development, and ongoing feedback
- Balance leadership with clinical duties; this is a hospital-based, working manager position
- Validate clinical quality through medical record reviews, case discussions, audits, and patient safety follow-ups
- Partner with practice leadership to meet operational goals and drive consistent, high-quality, client-centered care
- Support recruitment and serve as an ambassador within the local veterinary community, including student engagement and extern support
- Oversee compliant controlled substance management and act as Responsible Veterinarian for permits as required
- Ensure adherence to applicable regulations and clinical standards, creating action plans to close identified gaps
- Manage medical equipment needs and requests to maintain clinical readiness
- Address client escalations related to medical care and support a culture of accessibility and excellent service
Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution
- Current New York veterinary license (or eligibility to obtain prior to start)
- DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Proven clinical proficiency in general practice, including routine surgery and dentistry
- Prior leadership experience (lead doctor, multi-site, or comparable) strongly preferred
- Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with digital medical records and telemedicine-supported workflows
