Job Description

Lead as Chief of Staff Veterinarian in Traverse City, MI, with compensation up to $180,000. This is a full-time leadership role at a respected, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital serving a loyal community.

The Role
- Serve as Chief of Staff for a full-service small animal hospital, blending leadership duties and clinical practice
- Approximately 20-30 percent leadership and 70-80 percent veterinarian responsibilities, adjusted to hospital needs
- Guide medical quality, client experience, and team productivity, partnering closely with practice leadership
- Mentor and develop associate veterinarians and support teams; lead scheduling and workflow optimization
- Oversee preventive care, internal medicine, dentistry, and routine soft-tissue surgery
- Perform diagnostic workups, create detailed treatment plans, and ensure accurate medical recordkeeping
- Ensure compliance with medical standards, safety protocols, and applicable regulations
- Foster a positive, inclusive culture that emphasizes communication, education, and continuous improvement

Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an accredited institution
- License to practice veterinary medicine in Michigan (or eligibility to obtain)
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- Proven clinical competence in general practice; comfortable with routine surgery and dentistry
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills
- Strong communication skills and commitment to client education and preventive care
- Experience with select small mammals or other companion exotics is a plus
