Veterinary Referral Coordinator to support our growing
Specialty & Emergency Veterinary Hospital in
Hickory, North Carolina.
This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinary professional with experience in veterinary client service, referral coordination, veterinary marketing, hospital outreach, community engagement, or veterinary relationship management who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment.

What You’ll Do
Veterinary Referral Relationship Management & Hospital Outreach
- Serve as the primary liaison between CASE and referring veterinary hospitals throughout the region
- Build and strengthen relationships with General Practice veterinarians, veterinary teams, and community partners
- Maintain professional communication with referring veterinary clinics via phone, email, and hospital systems
- Coordinate referral communication, case updates, and specialty scheduling support
- Ensure referring veterinarians receive appropriate medical records, discharge summaries, and follow-up communication
- Conduct regular in-person visits to veterinary hospitals throughout the region (local travel up to approximately 75% may be required)
- Schedule and coordinate lunch-and-learns, veterinary hospital visits, and outreach initiatives
- Support planning and execution of Continuing Education (CE) events for DVMs, RVTs, veterinary assistants, and hospital teams
- Assist with sponsorship outreach and veterinary partnership development initiatives
- Represent CASE at local community events, veterinary networking opportunities, pet walks, adoption events, Bark in the Park, and additional outreach events as needed
Community Outreach, Veterinary Marketing & Social Media Support
- Support hospital social media and veterinary community engagement initiatives
- Help promote CASE’s specialty and emergency veterinary services within the veterinary community
- Assist with veterinary marketing efforts designed to strengthen hospital visibility and referral relationships
- Collaborate with hospital leadership on outreach strategies and growth initiatives
- Support newsletters, communication campaigns, and referral partner engagement efforts
Client Experience & Veterinary Referral Coordination
- Support a positive, compassionate client experience throughout the referral process
- Assist in addressing client concerns professionally and empathetically
- Serve as a communication resource between clients, referring hospitals, specialists, and CASE teams
- Coordinate transfer of medical records, imaging, lab results, and referral documentation
- Support specialty consultation scheduling and referral workflows
- Maintain professionalism and organization during emotionally sensitive situations
Reporting, Organization & Process Improvement
- Track referral activity, outreach efforts, veterinary relationship development, and hospital engagement trends
- Create reports and present referral insights, feedback trends, and outreach data to hospital leadership
- Gather feedback from referring veterinary clinics to identify workflow improvement opportunities
- Maintain organized communication documentation and referral records
- Participate in discussions focused on improving referral workflows, client experience, and operational efficiency
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in veterinary medicine, veterinary client service, veterinary marketing, referral coordination, veterinary sales, or healthcare relationship management preferred
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Self-motivated with strong time management and problem-solving abilities
- Professional, compassionate, and service-oriented mindset
- Ability to confidently engage with veterinarians, hospital teams, clients, and community partners
- Proficiency with veterinary software systems, EMRs, and office platforms preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local travel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within Specialty or Emergency Veterinary Medicine strongly preferred
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, specialty workflows, and referral processes
- Experience supporting social media, veterinary marketing, or community outreach initiatives
- Previous experience in business development, outside sales, veterinary outreach, or referral liaison work is a plus
- CVT, RVT, or LVT credentials are a plus
- Veterinary practice management or specialty hospital coordination experience preferred
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-Time opportunity
- Significant time spent within the community visiting veterinary hospitals and attending events
- Flexible scheduling based on outreach initiatives, CE events, hospital visits, and business needs
- Occasional evening or weekend attendance for veterinary events or conferences may be required
