Veterinary Science Teacher

North Central Parke Community School Corporation, in Conjunction with the Wabash River CTE District, is looking for an individual interested in serving as our new Veterinary Science teacher. The Veterinary Science teacher will instruct students in the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to work with small, large, companion, food, and exotic animals. Instruction will introduce students to veterinary careers and cover medical terminology, animal anatomy and physiology, clinical examination procedures, laboratory techniques, animal diseases and parasites, and common veterinary office practices. The teacher will also guide students in exploring animal husbandry, welfare, housing, handling, genetics, breeding, biotechnology, and sustainable animal agriculture. Additional instruction will address veterinary clinic management, applicable laws, and ethical practices. Through classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory activities, students will develop an understanding of animal health, animal care, and the diverse career opportunities available in veterinary science.

The ideal candidate will hold at least a Registered Veterinary Technician license and have worked a minimum 4000 hours in the veterinary/animal science field.

There are multiple ways to obtain a teaching certification to instruct this subject. CTE Director Craig Newby will assist with all licensing questions.

This program was established in 2018. It features one of the finest high school veterinary science teaching facilities in Indiana. Students from Covington, Fountain Central, North Vermillion, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, and South Vermillion are enrolled in the veterinary science classes.
