Our hospital is well equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, MRI, multiple fully equipped surgical suites, telemetry, and comprehensive ICU facilities designed to support complete inpatient care. We also maintain a robust in-house laboratory.

Our team includes receptionists, veterinary assistants, licensed veterinary technicians, and doctors who work together to deliver exceptional care to our patients and clients. Role Responsibilities:

The Scrub Room Technician is responsible for cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining the instruments, equipment, and supplies used by the hospital''s medical and surgical teams. This position works in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as AAHA guidelines. The technician will develop and maintain protocols, track inventory, oversee required equipment maintenance schedules, and provide organization and support for the hospital''s Central Services areas.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma or GED required.

Experience

  • Recent experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital is required
  • Experience organizing and maintaining a functional inventory system is preferred
  • Desire to practice empathetic, gold-standard medicine that benefits our patients
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate and support others
  • Positive, kind, and trustworthy communication skills with patients, clients, and team members

Knowledge of:

  • Inventory management fundamentals
  • Veterinary instruments and equipment, including proper terminology and basic care
  • Basic aseptic procedures, as well as the operation, maintenance, quality assurance, and safety aspects of steam, gas, and chemical sterilization equipment

Ability to:

  • Develop, implement, document, and maintain an organized inventory and equipment maintenance system
  • Work productively with little or no direct supervision
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Demonstrate proficiency in aseptic techniques
  • Demonstrate familiarity with surgical scrub area procedures and practices
  • Work effectively in stressful situations and with a variety of personalities
  • Uphold proper safety protocols

Specific Duties

  • Help develop, implement, document, and maintain an organized, functional, and accessible inventory system for instruments, equipment, and supplies assigned to the Central Supply areas of the hospital
  • Document protocols and perform, or arrange for, all routine and scheduled cleaning and maintenance of instruments and equipment
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment daily as needed
  • Develop and implement written maintenance protocols for larger specialized equipment
  • Maintain records detailing how and where to obtain replacement parts and repair services
  • Prepare and maintain procedure kits and surgical packs, including cataloging, cleaning, sterilizing, assembling contents, and returning complete packs to their designated storage locations
  • Regularly clean, organize, and restock supply areas
  • Maintain supplies in the following areas:
  • Bandaging materials, including altering, sterilizing, and repackaging items as needed to meet hospital needs
  • Ultrasonic cleaner
  • Sharpened clipper blades; coordinate outsourced sharpening services as needed
  • Assist with laundry as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Serve as a member of the Operations Department and attend regular departmental meetings
  • Attend all Large Animal and Small Animal Department team meetings

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience. The pay range for this position is $20-$23 per hour. The actual rate offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
