    Looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician job in Metairie, LA or the Greater New Orleans area where you can work with advanced cases, expand your technical skills, and be part of a hospital that continues to grow?

    Metairie Small Animal Hospital (MSAH) is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated technician team in Metairie, Louisiana. This is an opportunity to work hands-on in a hospital where teamwork, clinical growth, and patient advocacy are at the center of what we do. Experience in surgery, anesthesia, oncology, CT, dentistry, ophthalmology, diagnostics is a plus.

    We're open to credentialed and non-credentialed candidates with a veterinary technician background. What matters most is hands-on experience, a strong work ethic, dependability, and the drive to continue developing your emergency medicine skills.

    For more than 80 years, Metairie Small Animal Hospital has provided veterinary care to pets throughout Metairie and the Greater New Orleans community.

    What You'll Do

    Day-shift technicians play an important role across our treatment, diagnostic, surgical, and hospitalized patient care teams.

    Depending on your experience and interests, responsibilities may include:

    • Monitor and provide nursing care for hospitalized patients
    • Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments
    • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and fluid therapy
    • Run in-house bloodwork and laboratory diagnostics
    • Take and process digital radiographs
    • Assist with CT imaging and advanced diagnostic procedures
    • Monitor anesthesia and support surgical procedures and recovery
    • Assist with dentistry and dental radiographs
    • Support oncology treatments and diagnostics
    • Assist the ICU team with critical and hospitalized patients as needed
    • Administer medications and treatments as directed
    • Maintain accurate electronic medical records
    • Communicate effectively with doctors, clients, and other members of the medical team

    What We're Looking For

    • Previous hands-on veterinary clinical experience required
    • Non-credentialed Veterinary Technicians and credentialed RVT/LVT/CVT candidates encouraged to apply
    • Surgery, anesthesia, CT, oncology, dentistry, ophthalmology, ICU, or advanced diagnostic experience is highly valued
    • Strong venipuncture, IV catheter, radiology, and patient monitoring skills
    • Comfortable working in a busy, high-acuity veterinary hospital
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented approach
    • Desire to continue learning and developing advanced veterinary skills

    Day Shift Schedule

    • Full-Time
    • Four 10-hour shifts
    • Daytime schedules vary by department and may include:
    • 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM
    • 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
    • 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
    • 8:30 AM - 6:30 PM
    • Weekend availability required

    Specific scheduling will depend on department placement and hospital needs.
