Newton Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Level II Veterinary Technician to join our team in a full-time daytime position. As a 24/7 emergency and general practice hospital, Newton offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload while continuing to strengthen your technical skills alongside an experienced and supportive veterinary team.

We are looking for someone who has a strong foundation in veterinary medicine, is comfortable working independently with core technician responsibilities, and enjoys being part of a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment.

Schedule

This is a full-time daytime position with scheduling options of:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week OR four 10-hour shifts per week
• Saturday availability is required

What We're Looking For

Our ideal Advanced Level II-III Veterinary Technician has a solid technical foundation and is comfortable with responsibilities including:

• Venipuncture and blood collection
• IV catheter placement
• Patient restraint and handling
• Medication administration
• Laboratory sample collection and processing
• Anesthesia monitoring
• Surgical preparation and assistance
• Comfortable with surgical prep and anesthesia monitoring for ER abdominal surgery 
• Dental procedures and patient care
• Hospitalized patient treatments and nursing care
• Diagnostic imaging assistance
• Accurate medical documentation
• Recognizing changes in patient condition and communicating concerns to the medical team
• Providing compassionate care to patients and clear communication with clients
• Working collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and veterinary assistants

Our Ideal Candidate

We'd love to meet someone who:

• Has previous veterinary technician experience and a well-rounded technical skillset
• Is comfortable handling routine technician responsibilities with increasing independence
• Has experience with surgery, ER abdominal surgeries, anesthesia, dentistry, and hospitalized patient care
• Is dependable, organized, and able to prioritize in a busy hospital environment
• Communicates well and enjoys working as part of a team
• Is eager to continue learning and developing their technical skills
• Is able to work Saturdays as part of their regular schedule

New Jersey CVT certification is welcomed but is not required for this position.

Level III Veterinary Technician

• $30.00–$32.00/hour

Licensed New Jersey CVTs earn an additional 25% above the posted pay ranges.

Compensation

$24.00–$32.00/hour

Compensation is based on experience, technical skillset, and technician level.

Licensed New Jersey CVTs earn 25% above the posted wage ranges.
