Dodge City Veterinary Hospital, a proud Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. We provide high‑quality primary care for dogs and cats, along with bathing, grooming, dentistry, surgery, spay/neuter services, acupuncture, and holistic care for pets throughout Denham Springs, Baton Rouge, Livingston, and Walker.

What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in improving and saving pets' lives every day by:

  • Assisting veterinarians with exams, treatments, surgeries, and procedures
  • Placing IV catheters and performing blood draws and IV, IM, and SQ injections
  • Monitoring anesthesia and utilizing diagnostic and monitoring equipment
  • Supporting patient flow through admissions, treatments, and discharges
  • Educating clients on individualized pet care, medications, and treatment plans
  • Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records
  • Practicing safe restraint techniques and maintaining clean, organized treatment areas
  • Mentoring and supporting fellow team members

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on veterinary technician or assistant experience
  • Proficiency with IV catheter placement, bloodwork, and injections
  • Experience monitoring anesthesia
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A passion for empathetic, high‑quality veterinary medicine
