Requirements

  • Veterinary Technician certification a plus; but not required
  • Ability to safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Experience or familiarity with spay/neuter surgery support, vaccinations, and basic medical procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medical documentation and recordkeeping
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with changing priorities
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow veterinary instructions and established medical protocols
RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarian with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures, including spay/neuter surgeries
  • Prepare surgical instruments, medical supplies, and treatment areas
  • Monitor and care for animals before, during, and after procedures, including anesthesia monitoring when applicable
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Perform routine diagnostic testing (e.g., fecal, bloodwork samples) and assist with laboratory work
  • Safely handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records and documentation
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain medical equipment, surgical areas, and clinic spaces
  • Communicate effectively with staff and, when applicable, the public regarding animal care instructions
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and medical protocols to ensure quality care and disease prevention

The Veterinary Technician supports veterinary care in both shelter and community clinic settings, assisting the veterinarian with examinations, spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and diagnostic testing. This role also includes preparing and monitoring patients, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring safe, humane animal handling.

This position is actively involved in our low-cost spay/neuter clinic and monthly vaccine (shot) clinics, helping provide accessible veterinary care to the public while supporting overall animal health and population control efforts.
