Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant (Part-Time)

Grant Pet Hospital & Urgent Care is looking for a compassionate, motivated Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team! Our hospital combines general practice and urgent care, providing the opportunity to expand your skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families every day. With 3 experienced veterinarians and a collaborative veterinary technician and veterinary assistant team, you'll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of procedures and medical cases. We believe in cross-training and rotating responsibilities so every team member has opportunities to learn, grow, and develop their strengths.

Position Details

  • Part-time (up to 28 hours per week)
  • Rotating Saturdays required
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check required

What You'll Do

As an essential member of our medical team, you will:

  • Provide compassionate care for patients during routine, urgent, hospitalized, critical, and end-of-life cases
  • Safely and confidently handle pets of all sizes and temperaments
  • Assist veterinarians with routine and urgent care appointments.
  • Collect, prepare, and process laboratory samples for in-house diagnostics and outside reference laboratories
  • Place IV catheters and administer medications as directed
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging, including radiographs and ultrasound
  • Support anesthesia, surgery, dental procedures, and dental radiography
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough medical records
  • Educate clients and partner with pet owners to provide the highest standard of care
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Veterinary Assistant certification preferred
  • Previous veterinary clinical experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of a busy veterinary hospital, including standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, and reaching
