About the Role

VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician Trainer to help shape the next generation of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on clinical experience with the chance to directly influence how our team learns, grows, and delivers care by building training programs, mentoring new hires, and partnering with leadership to raise the bar for clinical excellence.

Schedule: 5 x 8 hour shifts

Schedule will be flexible to accommodate the training needs of the ER/ICU department

Compensation 

$32.00 – $40.00/hour  
Pay range is negotiable based on experience, education, skills, and credentials. 

Requirements:

• Certified Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, LVT)
• 5+ years in emergency or specialty service
• Patience and flexibility
• Willingness to try different training approaches
• Ability to guide and train constructively
• Supportive, positive attitude
• Leads by example

The responsibilities of the Veterinary Technician Trainer include:

• Facilitating, monitoring, and documenting training activities
• Supporting Veterinary Technician and Assistant team members across all departments
• Participating in staff and training meetings
• Working on the floor alongside new assistants, CVTs, and students
• Working through training protocols and classes with the Hospital Manager, department supervisors, and Medical Director
• Helping facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding
• Training new hires on company policies and procedures
• Gathering and evaluating feedback from employees on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas needing additional training, then developing a training outline/plan to address them
• Holding regular check-ins with associates to monitor progress
• Setting up and participating in training wet labs
• Serving as a point of contact for veterinary technician externs during their placement, ensuring they receive appropriate supervision, hands-on experience, and exposure to clinical procedures
• Coordinating extern schedules and learning objectives with school programs and internal supervisors
• Evaluating extern performance and providing structured feedback to both the extern and their academic program, as required
