About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to provide professional service, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and installation support for commercial security systems.
This is a hands-on field role for a technician who enjoys diagnosing technical issues, working directly with customers, and finding solutions in the field. The Field Service Technician will respond to service calls, troubleshoot and repair security systems, communicate job status and findings to the Operations team, and ensure systems are functioning properly before leaving the customer site.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, communicates professionally, and can work independently while knowing when to escalate more complex technical issues.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial security systems, including video surveillance, access control, intercoms, and other electronic security products.
- Respond to service calls and accurately diagnose system issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and system repairs to help ensure equipment remains reliable and operational.
- Troubleshoot both hardware and system-related issues and identify the appropriate solution.
- Test systems and equipment after completing service or repair work to verify proper operation.
- Clearly communicate issues, findings, recommended solutions, and estimated completion times to customers and internal teams.
- Provide regular updates to the Operations team regarding job status, findings, parts required, and completion.
- Document service work accurately, including work performed, parts used, system issues, and recommendations.
- Provide professional and responsive customer service while representing Visible Intellect positively in the field.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at customer and project sites.
- Assist with new system installations and deployments when not assigned to service calls.
- Support other technicians and field teams when needed.
- Follow company procedures, safety requirements, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in commercial security, low-voltage, electronic security, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and servicing access control, video surveillance/CCTV, intercoms, or other electronic security systems.
- Strong electrical and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to use basic test equipment such as a multimeter/voltmeter to diagnose electrical and system issues.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, system documentation, and technical information.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to methodically diagnose system issues.
- Comfortable working independently in the field and managing service calls from start to finish.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional customer-service skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple service requests and respond with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to regularly lift, move, and/or control equipment and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; technical training or certifications are a plus.

- $35–$40/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
