A rapidly growing financial technology organization is seeking a senior Compliance leader to help scale and strengthen its Compliance Management System (CMS) within a highly innovative digital banking and payments environment.

This role is ideal for a hands-on compliance executive who thrives in fast-paced, product-driven organizations and enjoys building programs, solving complex problems, and partnering directly with Product, Engineering, Risk, Legal, Operations, and Financial Crimes teams. The successful candidate will serve as both a strategic leader and operational executor, ensuring compliance is embedded throughout the product lifecycle while supporting responsible growth and innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Compliance Program Leadership
  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of key components of the Compliance Management System (CMS).
  • Translate regulatory requirements into scalable operational controls and technology-enabled compliance solutions.
  • Drive execution of compliance initiatives, remediation efforts, and control enhancements.
  • Partner with business leaders to balance regulatory expectations, customer experience, and speed-to-market objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on compliance risks, regulatory developments, and strategic initiatives.

Consumer Protection & Product Compliance
  • Lead oversight of consumer protection risks across digital financial products and services.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential consumer harm and conduct-related risks.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Customer Experience teams to embed compliance requirements into product design and development.
  • Review new products, features, and business initiatives to ensure appropriate compliance controls are established.
  • Oversee complaint management, customer issue remediation, and consumer-focused risk assessments.

Regulatory Change & Examination Management
  • Monitor regulatory developments impacting digital banking, payments, fintech, consumer finance, privacy, and related activities.
  • Translate regulatory changes into actionable business requirements and implementation plans.
  • Support regulatory examinations, supervisory reviews, audits, and inquiries.
  • Coordinate regulatory responses, remediation efforts, and ongoing engagement with regulators and stakeholders.

Monitoring, Testing & Issue Management
  • Oversee compliance monitoring and testing activities to evaluate control effectiveness.
  • Identify compliance gaps, emerging risks, and process weaknesses.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of compliance issues, including identification, remediation, validation, and closure.
  • Develop practical policies, procedures, standards, and governance documentation aligned with business operations.

Partner & Third-Party Compliance Oversight
  • Support compliance oversight programs for fintech partnerships, banking relationships, and third-party service providers.
  • Establish governance, monitoring, and accountability frameworks for external partners.
  • Assess partner compliance risks and ensure appropriate controls are maintained.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, and business teams to strengthen partner oversight programs.

Reporting, Metrics & Governance
  • Develop and maintain meaningful compliance metrics, dashboards, and management reporting.
  • Deliver clear and actionable reporting to senior leadership and governance committees.
  • Identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for program enhancement.
  • Escalate material compliance concerns and recommend practical solutions.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop compliance professionals within a high-growth environment.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide compliance training and education tailored to business and operational teams.
  • Promote strong cross-functional relationships across Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Financial Crimes functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of progressive compliance experience within fintech, banking, payments, consumer finance, or financial services.
  • Experience building, managing, and enhancing Compliance Management Systems (CMS).
  • Strong knowledge of consumer protection, regulatory compliance, complaint management, privacy, and conduct risk frameworks.
  • Experience partnering directly with Product and Engineering teams in product development environments.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive execution in high-growth organizations.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience developing compliance metrics, dashboards, and governance reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience supporting Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), embedded finance, payments, digital banking, or fintech platforms.
  • Familiarity with AML, fraud, and broader financial crime compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations and remediation programs.
  • Relevant certifications such as CRCM, CAMS, CCEP, or similar credentials.
  • Advanced degree in Business, Law, Public Policy, or related field.
