Vice President Human Resources

Our client is a nationally recognized, rapidly growing nonprofit community behavioral health network headquartered in Northeast Ohio and serving communities across the state through a multi-county care network. Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 / Annually

The Vice President, Human Resources is the senior-most HR leader in the organization, serving on the Senior Executive Team, partnering directly with the President & CEO, and participating in Board activities. Reporting into executive leadership, this strategic, hands-on leader directs and manages all aspects of HR, including planning, development, evaluations, and develops initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Leading a team of 10, the VP, Human Resources serves as a trusted advisor across the leadership team while providing direct oversight of employee relations and all employment-related claims and concerns across a growing, multi-county footprint.

As a Vice President, Human Resources, you will:

• Direct and manage HR for the organization, including strategic planning, program development, and ongoing evaluations
• Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that align with organizational goals, working closely with the President & CEO and Executive Leadership
• Serve on the Senior Executive Team and participate in Board activities, advising leadership on organizational policy matters and recommending needed changes
• Lead and develop a team of 10 HR professionals, guiding, directing, and motivating staff and building a high-performing, service-oriented function
• Provide direct oversight of employee relations and the management of all employment-related claims, concerns, and litigation
• Establish and maintain strong relationships across all levels of the organization and with community partners, serving as a hands-on, collaborative leader
• Analyze and modify compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitive offerings and compliance with legal requirements
• Evaluate compliance with standards, using sound judgment to interpret and administer policies and resolve work-related issues calmly, consistently, and equitably
• Analyze data and reports to identify causes of personnel issues and develop recommendations to improve policies and practices
• Travel to behavioral health service centers across Ohio to engage with managers, employees, and clients

As a Vice President, Human Resources, you have:

• Progressive experience in Human Resources, including a minimum of ten years at the executive level
• A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field
• Experience and are well-versed in employment law, with experience managing employment claims and litigation
• The Ability to succinctly define issues, collect data, draw valid conclusions, and develop sound resolutions
• A track record of practicing balanced judgment, evaluating complex situations, and making decisions amid conflict in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner
• Worked effectively at all levels of the organization and with community partners
• The ability to travel to all behavioral health service centers to engage with managers, employees, and clients

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
• SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification, with eight or more years at the executive level and twenty years of total HR experience.
• Extensive experience addressing employment law issues within large, complex organizations with a broad geographic footprint.

Work Details

• Work Location: Onsite, five days per week at the headquarters in Kent, OH
• Travel Requirements: Approximately 15% travel to service centers across Ohio
• Placement Type: Direct Hire
• Estimated Schedule: Full-time
