Everest Re Group, Ltd. is seeking to hire a Vice President to serve as Head of Investment Risk Management. This position will be based in Warren, NJ or New York City and will report directly to our Chief Investment Officer. The Everest investment team consists of a small group of talented individuals working in a collegial and supportive environment, overseeing the Company’s $40+billion global investment portfolio.

The person in this role is expected to work in a highly collaborative and thoughtful manner with everyone on the investment team and colleagues in different divisions, including working closely with the Group Chief Risk Officer, capital modelling team, internal and external audit teams, technology, finance and accounting, legal, tax, treasury, and others.

Key responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of investment risk management for a global P&C reinsurance company, including developing and managing key risk metrics and processes such as Value-at-Risk, surplus volatility, asset/liability management, guideline compliance, rating agency and regulatory metrics, performing portfolio stress testing, among other responsibilities.

This is a hybrid position working 3 days in the office (Warren or NYC), 2 days remote.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Ensuring proper risk management across all investment portfolios

Chair of the Asset Risk Committee (ARC)

Monitoring portfolio asset duration positioning relative to liability durations (ALM) across legal entities and geographies to ensure reasonable interest rate risk tolerances.

Monitoring foreign exchange (F/X) exposures

Measuring and reporting on key deterministic and stochastic risk metrics such as VAR and t-VAR at various confidence intervals

Coordinating with Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO) regarding investment controls and modelling to align with overall Everest enterprise risk management (ERM)

Coordinating with underwriting business units such as Financial Lines to aggregate and monitor overlapping credit exposures across the Company

Preparing and coordinating risk-related investment reporting for senior management, the investment committee, and the board of directors

Overseeing information systems initiatives within the Investments domain

Collaborating with other groups across the firm on transversal initiativesJob Qualifications & Requirements:

8+ years of work experience in investment management or insurance risk management

MBA or MS in Risk Management, Finance or Financial Engineering preferred.

CFA Designation preferred

Strong communication skills

Highly quantitative; strong Excel and modeling skills required

Ability to summarize complex ideas succinctly

Ability to collaborate with others

Strong work ethic

High ethical standards

The base salary range for this position is $303,000 - $375,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
