Vice President of Earth Observation ABOUT US EcoPlanet Bamboo is leading the commercialization of bamboo as a sustainable deforestation-free climate friendly alternative fiber for some of the worlds largest industries. Our operations are expanding with carbon financed bamboo farms and nature based solution projects in Nicaragua South Africa Ghana Rwanda and the Philippines with additional country expansions in the pipeline. Our projects apply our successful model of landscape restoration providing a solution to three of the worlds most critical environmental problems the need for effective solutions to mitigate global climate change holistic restoration of the worlds most degraded landscapes and a growing population that requires sustainable alternatives for consumer products and markets that still contribute to deforestation and deforestation driven emissions. The Vice President of Earth Observation will be responsible for guiding and overseeing EcoPlanets spatial management of complex operation across our global projects including intricate ecosystem design spatial guidance of large numbers of field workers and the associated flow of spatial data into company databases and associated adaptive management. The successful candidate will integrate GIS workflows remote sensing methodologies and Earth Observation technologies to enhance the quality consistency and transparency of spatial data across all projects while managing and building the capacity of in-country GIS Managers. Location 100 remote is acceptable for the right candidate who is passionate and dedicated to our mission is highly time-management disciplined and can operate across global time zones. RESPONSIBILITIES Operations • Lead and oversee all spatial data management activities related to operational design implementation and associated mapping of accomplishments. • Integrate improved GIS and remote sensing workflows across EcoPlanets operations driving automation efficiency and accuracy. • Build and manage spatial data ensuring real-time visibility of project activities and status through accurate standardized mapping outputs with data that feeds into company-wide dashboard systems. • Work closely with in country operation and monitoring teams to ensure that spatial data meets both internal operational needs and external reporting requirements. • Manage the processing analysis and interpretation of spatial and remote sensing data. • Directly manage and support EcoPlanets in-country GIS Managers providing strategic oversight technical guidance and professional development to ensure consistency across all projects. • Lead internal training initiatives to build capacity in GIS and remote sensing practices across field teams. Carbon • Provide quick turn arounds on historical land use assessments of a significant pipeline of new project opportunities against carbon eligibility requirements • Oversee all aspects of successful carbon certification ensuring alignment with Verra and other registry requirements. • Implement Earth Observation tools and platforms to monitor changes in land use biomass development degradation risk and carbon stock changes. • Stay current with innovations in Earth Observation geospatial AI and data analytics ensuring EcoPlanet remains at the forefront of spatial data management in restoration and nature-based solutions. QUALIFICATIONS • Masters degree or higher in Geoinformatics Remote Sensing Environmental Science Forestry Geography or a related field. • 10 years of professional experience in GIS Earth Observation remote sensing or spatial analysis with a preference for experience in carbon projects forestry or restoration sectors. • Demonstrated experience with carbon certification mapping requirements Verra Gold Standard etc.. • Proven experience managing GIS teams across multiple geographies. • Advanced proficiency in GIS software ArcGIS Suite remote sensing platforms and cloud-based geospatial platforms. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex spatial data in an accessible and actionable manner. • Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate effectively across multiple diverse cultures. • Acute sense of responsibility and problem solving skills. • Ability to work in a fast paced environment as part of a multi-national entrepreneurial company • Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
