Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, the Vice President, Quality, Compliance & Governance is a key executive leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing the quality strategy across our global Medical Segment.

This leader will drive enterprise-wide quality, compliance, and governance initiatives that ensure Cardinal Health's products and services consistently meet the highest standards of patient safety, product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction. The role provides strategic oversight of Design Quality Assurance, Quality Management Systems (QMS), Supplier Quality Assurance, Post-Market Surveillance, and other critical quality functions.

The Vice President will serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives, partner closely with cross-functional business leaders, and represent Cardinal Health with regulatory agencies, customers, and external suppliers. This leader will foster a culture of quality excellence while ensuring scalable, efficient, and compliant processes that support business growth and innovation globally.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Establish and execute a global quality, compliance, and governance strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the continuous advancement of enterprise Quality Management Systems to support innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, quality excellence, patient safety, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Serve as a member of the senior quality leadership team, influencing critical business decisions and enterprise priorities.

Quality & Compliance Oversight

  • Provide executive oversight for Design Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality Assurance, Quality Management Systems, Post-Market Surveillance, and related quality functions.
  • Ensure compliance with global medical device regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Lead quality governance processes, risk management activities, and compliance initiatives across the Medical Segment.
  • Drive readiness for regulatory inspections, audits, and assessments while ensuring effective remediation and continuous improvement.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with executive leaders across Operations, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Commercial, and Supply Chain functions to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with regulatory authorities, external suppliers, customers, and industry partners.
  • Influence and advise senior leaders on quality risks, compliance matters, and strategic business opportunities.
  • Communicate key quality metrics, trends, risks, and business opportunities to executive leadership.

People Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing global organization through Directors, Senior Directors, Managers, and other quality professionals.
  • Foster talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement across the quality organization.
  • Create an inclusive, performance-driven culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee functional budgets and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient execution of quality initiatives.
  • Ensure supplier quality performance meets business and regulatory expectations while building strategic partnerships across the supply base.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Quality Assurance, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, or Quality Systems within the medical device, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or closely regulated healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, global quality organizations and developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep expertise in medical device regulations, quality systems, and global compliance requirements.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leadership, regulators, customers, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience leading regulatory inspections, audits, remediation efforts, and enterprise quality transformation initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and change leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage complex priorities, drive decisions in ambiguous environments, and balance business objectives with regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting global medical device manufacturing and commercial operations.
  • Track record of driving enterprise quality transformations, digital quality initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
  • ASQ certifications or other relevant quality certifications.
  • Willingness to travel globally as business needs require - roughly 20%.

Anticipated salary range: $183,100 - $308,000

  • The salary range listed is an estimate. Pay at Cardinal Health is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographical location, relevant education, experience, skills and an evaluation of internal pay equity.
