Vice President - Senior KYC Advisory Officer

We are seeking someone to join our team as a Global Financial Crimes (GFC) Senior KYC Advisory Officer.

In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firms management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is a Vice President level position within the KYC Advisory Team which tasked with setting KYC policy in coordination with Global Financial Crimes Advisory and Legal colleagues, and implementing KYC control changes and enhancements, working directly with Operations, the Business Unit stakeholders and Firm Technology units where necessary.

The KYC Advisory Officer coordinates and supports critical aspects of Morgan Stanleys Know Your Customer (KYC) Program across the enterprise while promoting consistency across business lines and regions in the day-to-day implementation of certain aspects of the KYC Program.

Global Financial Crimes (GFC) coordinates day-to-day implementation of the Firms enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. GFC includes several legal and compliance disciplines and has responsibility for governance, oversight, and execution of the Firms Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Economic Sanctions, Anti-Tax Evasion, Anti-Corruption and Government and Political Activities Compliance programs.

GFC also develops and/or assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures, including those designed to assist the business units to know their clients and conduct appropriate due diligence and to prevent, detect and report potentially suspicious activity.

The Global Know Your Customer (KYC) Advisory team is focused on the KYC program obligations globally.

Job Responsibilities:

• Draft, maintain and advise on the firms Global KYC Standards, including supplements, additional guidance as necessary
• Plan, coordinate, and track the implementation of the Firms Global KYC Standards, including periodic refresh, and related regional standards across the Enterprise
• Advise key stakeholders of KYC regulatory and policy requirements and suggest enhancement of KYC controls in response to regulatory and policy change
• Assist regional GFC Financial Crimes Advisory teams in the periodic refresh process, including coordinating with Operations, Business Unit stakeholders and Technology to implement enhancements and control changes
• Assist in managing the governance and oversight of the Firms KYC efforts, including the Firms KYC Standards Committee, and working groups with GFC, business unit, Operations, and Technology representatives
• Coordinate with GFC Strategy on the implementation and continued maintenance of Enterprise Customer Risk Ranking controls
• Stay up to date on relevant industry best practices, guidance and regulatory landscape, including but not limited to; USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act, FATF, 5th Money Laundering Directive.
• Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of KYC Controls enterprise-wide
• Manage small team of KYC Advisory staff

Requirements:

• Minimum of 8-12 years of relevant Ant-Money Laundering or KYC Advisory experience, preferably at a large financial institution, consulting firm, asset manager, law firm, or government/regulatory body
• Deep understanding of relevant laws, rules and regulations pertaining to AML as well as sanctions and anti-corruption
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to provide viable solutions in a time-sensitive environment
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and effective time management
• Sound judgment and an ability to manage and appropriately escalate issues internally
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and team-player attitude
• Strong presentation skills

Expected Base Pay Rates:

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between 120000 and 205000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
