Vice President Tax (Private Credit)
Location: New York, NY (On-site)
Compensation: $175,000 - $225,000 base + bonus
Summary
We are partnering with a leading private credit investment firm to hire a Vice President within their Tax function. This individual will play a key role supporting the firm's growing direct lending and structured credit platform, partnering closely with finance, legal, and investment teams.
Responsibilities:
Oversee tax compliance and reporting for private credit funds, direct lending vehicles, and related entities, including partnerships, blocker corporations, and offshore structures
Review and manage federal, state, and local tax returns, estimates, and payments across complex investment structures
Lead the preparation and review of tax workpapers, allocations (including 704(c) and targeted capital), and investor reporting
Partner closely with external tax advisors and administrators on filings, audits, and tax provision processes
Manage tax implications related to new fund launches, deal structuring, and cross-border investments
Coordinate responses to tax notices and regulatory inquiries across jurisdictions
Support internal stakeholders on tax planning, structuring, and optimization initiatives
Assist with investor-related tax matters, including K-1s and ad hoc requests
Qualifications:
6-10+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally within asset management, private credit, private equity, or hedge funds
Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, fund structures, and credit strategies
Experience working with private credit funds, direct lending vehicles, or similar alternative investment products
CPA strongly preferred; MST or advanced tax degree is a plus
Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and ability to partner across finance, legal, and investment teams
