If you are unable to complete this application due to a disability, contact this employer to ask for an accommodation or an alternative application process.Full Time Detroit, MI, US6 days ago Requisition ID: 1075Job SummaryThe Victim Advocate supports AFG's mission, and its goal to provide domestic violence advocacy services to victims /survivors of domestic violence in order to promote self-determination and safety.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide crisis intervention and empowerment-based, trauma-informed advocacy.Coordinate advocacy needs, information and referral services for AFG clients.Provide info and education to help clients understand the dynamics of domestic violence.Provide ongoing advocacy-based counseling and safety planning.Engage in community networking activities to both increase access to services for individuals as well as to assist community service providers in understanding the dynamics of abuse.Support clients as they navigate the civil and legal systems.Collaborate with community partners such as the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCEDSV), JP and others.Record relevant client data, service usage and referrals into the database in a timely manner.Represent AFG and its programs in a positive light to clients, volunteers, funders and the community.Provide advocacy and support via the 24/7 emergency crisis line, as needed.Provide on-going training to AFG staff, volunteers and the community, as needed.Perform other duties, as assigned.Demonstrated AbilitiesSolid organizational and crisis management skills.Good communication skills, diplomacy and tact.Good decision-making, conflict resolution and effective listening skills.Ability to work with a diverse group of people while exhibiting cultural sensitivity.Ability to handle crisis, cope with job stress and maintain confidentiality.Acquired KnowledgeRequires an associate or bachelor's degree in social work, human services or another related field of study and 2-3 years of experience working with domestic violence survivors.Additional relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.Requires basic computer software and internet skills.Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.This position requires regular driving. Incumbents must have reliable transportation, must possess a driver's license and automobile insurance, and must have a good driving record.#J-18808-Ljbffr
