Title: Video, Film, and Digital Media TOSA - Media Arts and Design Academy (MAD)
Reports to: Site Principal
Salary Range: Depends on Experience (Highest placement would be at Class III, Step 11 of the Teacher Salary Schedule. Annual stipends for a Master's and a Doctorate degree. This position is a special assignment. The employee''s position classification remains that of a classroom teacher. This assignment is subject to change consistent with the District''s authority to direct and assign employees under all applicable laws.

Purpose of Position:
? Director Component
? To provide MAD Academy students with a media arts program that prepares them for college and a career in the field of Arts, Entertainment, and Design
? To be accessible to all students, with a student body that is reflective of the high school student population as a whole.
? Video Production Component
? To provide MAD Academy students with an industry-aligned curriculum that teaches concept development, screenwriting, camera operation, sound equipment operation, lighting equipment operation, pre-production, and post-production techniques.
? Be invested in public school arts education, and hold a commitment to equity and access when it comes to our program.
? Have some institutional knowledge of the SBHS MAD Academy itself, and an investment in supporting its success.
? Someone who takes initiative to determine their own tasks, understands the importance of sharing the workload with their colleagues, and follows through on deadlines in a timely manner. Spanish fluency is a plus if not required.
Essential Functions:
Technical/Professional
? Be invested in public school arts education, and hold a commitment to equity and access when it comes to our program.
? Have some institutional knowledge of the SBHS MAD Academy itself, and an investment in supporting its success.
? Someone who takes initiative to determine their own tasks, understands the importance of sharing the workload with their colleagues, and follows through on deadlines in a timely manner. Spanish fluency is a plus if not required.
? An expert in the field of film production, and industry production experience is a plus. This employee will be expected to operate and troubleshoot cameras of various models, sound equipment, and lighting equipment.
? Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, and have familiarity with other Adobe Creative Suite programs is a plus.
? Must be comfortable with Google Suite and data entry.
? Must hold a bachelor''s degree as well as a single-subject teaching credential in any subject. If their credential is not a Career Technical Education (CTE) credential, they must be willing to take the steps necessary to earn a CTE teaching credential while teaching.
? If they have no teaching credential, they will be expected to complete an online CTE credential program within their first two years of teaching. At the district's discretion, candidates without a credential may be conditionally hired contingent on the completion of their CTE credential coursework.
Work in support of the first Academy Director, taking ownership of some of the administrative duties of the MAD Academy program.
Program Management Duties Include, but are not limited to:

? Maintain a classroom environment that focuses on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional well-being prevention and implements practices that ensure equitable outcomes for all students.
? Manage and organize the classroom with a focus on equity, accountability, student-centered approach, and a positive culture and climate.
? Implement classroom practices that ensure equitable outcomes for all students.
? Engage in professional learning that enhances the achievement of all students, particularly socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially, and linguistically diverse student populations.
? Ensure that classroom resources are utilized in a way that addresses the needs of our most vulnerable learners.
? Commit to carrying out school goals and objectives so that all learners are prioritized.
Accountability
? Abide by the California Education Code, the Administrative Code of California, and the policies and regulations of the Santa Barbara Unified School District.
? Implement with fidelity the instructional program to meet the needs of a socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially, and linguistically diverse student population.
? Implement classroom instruction and student supports based on student achievement data.
? Review the results of assessments and implement interventions to ensure that all students meet grade-level proficiencies.
? Support the achievement of all students, in particular, a heightened level of focus on socio-economically, culturally, ethnically, racially, and linguistically diverse student populations.
Student-Centered
? Carry out the school's program expectations to meet the needs of all segments of the community.
? Provide opportunities for students to see their own background and experiences through the curriculum.
? Be aware and responsive to the individual needs of each student and family.
? Communicate important classroom information to all students and families in the classes.
Culture and Climate
? Establish and maintain high expectations for achievement and implement systematic supports using the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) so all students can achieve standards.
? Participate in family engagement programs
? Carry out the school's student behavior policies and procedures with an emphasis on addressing the disproportionality of the system's impact on specific student groups (i.e., students of color, students with disabilities, socio-economically disadvantaged).
? Assume responsibility before, during, and after school hours for the health, safety, and welfare of students.
? Maintain the classroom as a safe space for students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
? Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations.
? Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
? Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed matter, and observing students.

? Bilingual in English & Spanish.
Required Qualifications:
? Possession of one or more of the following credentials:
? Single Subject Teaching Credential authorized to teach Industrial and Technology Education
? Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential with an authorization to teach in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment
? Possession of a Bilingual Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development (CLAD or BCLAD) credential, or equivalent.
? Non-credentialed candidates with the appropriate combination of industry and/or educational experience may be eligible to apply for this position contingent upon concurrently earning a credential during the first three years of teaching.
