- Working closely with the External Affairs team to reach new audiences, conceives, develops, and plans video segments. Includes setting up interviews, determining where segments will be shot, or selecting the different shots to be used.
- Compiles data from various sources, investigates, analyzes, and writes the script/storyboard, editing as needed and deciding what slant a story will take.
- Operates the camera equipment, either holding the camera or placing the camera on a tripod to prevent it from moving. Conducts interviews or works in conjunction with another communications team member who interviews the subject.
- Transforms raw video clips and footage into high-quality finished videos used to inform, engage, and inspire audiences. Use specialized software applications and editing tools to merge content from multiple sources and add pictures, graphics, visual effects, voice, sound effects, and music as needed. All products are delivered on time. Work will range from day assignments to long-term projects.
- Performs work involved in the communication of information that includes scientific, medical, technical, military, and administrative subject matter in education, research, training, and general information environments.
- Serves as a manager of the University's YouTube channel to ensure products are uploaded onto appropriate playlists, old or non-performing content is archived accordingly, and assists with setting up USU livestream-to-YouTube events.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance at and participation in required training for the role.
