    The Duquesne University Department of Speech-Language Pathology in the John G. Rangos, Sr. School of Health Sciences is seeking a temporary full-time, non-renewable Visiting Assistant Professor faculty member. This appointment will begin in August 2026 and conclude on June 30, 2027.

    We are looking for a Clinical Assistant Professor who will provide supervision in the Duquesne University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic (DUSLHC) supporting a range of specialty clinics. The position will also include administrative responsibilities serving as the Clinical Education Coordinator for the department.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    Department Curriculum

    Clinical education and supervision of speech-language pathology students during clinical service provision in our on-campus clinic and in the community.

    Application of accreditation standards across clinical experiences

    Teach evidence-based assessment, treatment, counseling, and consultation skills in face-to-face, telepractice, community, and simulated clinical settings.

    Teach didactive courses for undergraduate and graduate speech-language pathology students as assigned.

    Contribute to the university, school, departmental, and professional service activities.

    Department Administration

    Support the Director of Clinical Education in initiating and fostering relationships with community partners in the region and across the United States.

    Secure and match students to qualified placement sites, ensuring alignment with curricular and program needs.

    Ensure timely and successful student placements to meet curriculum requirements and address site-related challenges.

    Monitor sites and supervisors to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

    Develop and implement marketing, education, and outreach strategies to expand the program's reach in conjunction with the Director of Clinical Education.

    Additional duties are:

    Maintain effective written and verbal communication with students, clients, faculty, and community partners.

    Supervise student therapy and assessment sessions in accordance with professional and accreditation standards, providing evaluation and feedback on student performance.

    Coordinate client intake, evaluation and treatment scheduling, documentation, and communications.

    Support student development in clinical reasoning, client management, and clinical documentation skills.

    Mentor students in professional growth, clinical best practices, and report-writing skills.

    Foster positive interpersonal relationships and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic clinical and academic environment.

    Engage in scholarship appropriate for appointment and in alignment with expertise and interests, including participation in grant proposals, clinical research, and the development of new clinical programming.

    Experience across varied service delivery models is preferred. Applicants should be prepared to meet all other clinical practice requirements of the position including but not limited to professional development in supervision post-certification, health and immunization requirements, HIPAA and CPR certification, and state and national clearances.

    This position requires:

    A master's degree or doctorate in speech-language pathology

    ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)

    Pennsylvania licensure in speech-language pathology by the start of employment

    Minimum of five years of professional experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist with clinical experience across the lifespan, varied service delivery models, and populations.

    Experience providing clinical education/supervision to students or Clinical Fellows

    Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Demonstrated leadership experience. Examples include mentoring students, supervising team members, leading clinical initiatives, with an emphasis on collaborative problem solving and thoughtful conflict resolution.

    Alternatively, the applicants may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential job functions.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
