Position Summary: The Visiting Assistant Professor is primarily dedicated to undergraduate and graduate instruction (80% effort), encompassing lecture courses in elementary education with a specific focus on literacy, both reading and writing instruction at the elementary l evel with practices rooted in the research on the Science of Reading. Teaching responsibilities are distributed across elementary education undergraduate majors and graduate student certificate, endorsement and MSED student populations. The successful candidate will also support student success through efforts such as leading the reading program, which encompasses: ensuring the program remains in alignment with TSPC and ODE requirements, meeting with core faculty to map syllabi to learning outcomes, refining coursework, assessments, and course sequences to meet TSPC requirements for Reading Interventionist and Early Literacy Frameworks, as well as primary advising in the Reading program. In addition to teaching, this position requires an active and evolving scholarly agenda through engagement in activities that contribute to the cumulative knowledge, creative resourc es, or instructional advancement of relevant disciplines. Service responsibilities (5% effort) include consistent participation in Division meetings as well as engagement in mentorship in undergraduate education, teaching development, and programmatic curricular planning initiatives.
