Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Assistant Professor or Instructor of Mathematical Sciences position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a full-time, one-year Assistant Professor/Instructor beginning in August for the 2026/27 academic year. Eastern is Connecticut's only public liberal arts university, and Mathematics is a foundational requirement in the curriculum. We are seeking a generalist in Mathematics with expertise in teaching non-STEM and first-year students. The candidate will teach in our Foundational Mathematics Program. They will teach Algebra Essentials, Math for Liberal Arts Plus, and possibly Precalculus Plus or Math for Business, Economics, and Data Science. All courses are taught in person on campus (no online instruction). The candidate will have a 4-4 teaching load, advise students, participate in department meetings, hold regular office hours, and adhere to all other expectations of a full-time faculty member.
Candidates should demonstrate potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, especially with first-generation students. Candidates should possess, at a minimum, a master's degree in mathematics or mathematics education before August 2026.
