Job Summary

The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a one-year full-time non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2026, with requirements to be physically present on the Hattiesburg and/or Gulf Coast campuses.

The Secondary Education faculty currently provide training to initial licensure candidates in Secondary Education, including students participating in a year-long residency placement. We are especially interested in candidates whose experience includes bridging research and practice. We aim to recruit applicants with a background in Curriculum and Instruction (Secondary) who will support both the School of Educations undergraduate and graduate Secondary Education programs. Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching and mentoring students.
  • Supervising secondary clinical experiences.
  • Engaging with community partner districts, schools, and community colleges.
  • Contributing to program and profession through service activities.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on program development and assessment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
