Position Details

The Department of Biology within the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a full-time, non-renewable, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning August 15, 2026, and ending in May 2027.

The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s undergraduate teaching mission. Primary teaching responsibilities are expected to include physiology-related laboratories, introductory biology for science majors (General Biology I and II lectures and laboratories), and other courses as needed to support departmental instructional needs.

The department seeks a broadly trained biologist with demonstrated interest and ability in undergraduate teaching. Candidates with preparation in organismal biology, comparative physiology, ecological physiology, anatomy and physiology, or related fields are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will show a commitment to inclusive, student-centered teaching and to supporting student learning in both lecture and laboratory settings.

Opportunities for collaborative research involving undergraduates and current members of the faculty are possible where research space and equipment are available through on-campus collaborators.

A Ph.D. in biology or a related field is preferred; strong ABD candidates will be considered. Prior undergraduate teaching experience, particularly in physiology, introductory biology, and laboratory instruction, is desirable. A personal commitment to high-quality undergraduate teaching and advising is essential.
