In this project, we are going to explore what user-level strategies can systematically reduce the cost of using commercial LLM APIs, and how these strategies can be measured, compared, and generalized across providers. We will use several scientific workflows at Argonne to investigate this. The student will help benchmark and optimize these workflows.

Education and Experience Requirements

• The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. 

• Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.

• Applicants must be:

o Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution. 

o Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or

o Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
