Visiting Student - Manato Kawahara - QNext

 

Manato Kawahara is a graduate student at Tohoku University and a close collaborator of ours.  The work he will be doing is optical characterization of various spin qubits in wide band-gap materials, including Cerium in Spinel and Forsterite and Erbium in different Oxides.  Manato’s project will primarily involve confocal microscopy experiments in Bldg. 241 and Bldg. 222 - including spectral hole burning experiments, electron spin resonance (ESR), and other measurements that probe the spin physics of these new systems. Other experiments will including materials characterization using optical and crystallographic measurements, including planned experiments at the Argonne APS.  These efforts will be done in collaboration with Nate Flanders, Jiefei Zhang, and Joseph Heremans.
