Visitor Assistant - Kusama

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As the Visitor Assistant - Kusama, you will guide and assist visitors through the exhibit. The position will be thru January 10, 2027, with flexibilty of a shortened end date if you need.

SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Management of exhibition entrance; receive and respond to incoming phone, radio, and email communications
• Ability to interact professionally and respectably with all levels of staff and visitors while also enforcing Museum policies in a courteous manner
• Excellent verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to speak in front of a group
• Must be able to navigate a variety of constituencies
• Must be able to problem-solve
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment is a must
• Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment, and initiative

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Inform visitors of a description of the requirements of the exhibit
• Provide coverage for employee breaks

WORK DEMANDS and ENVIRONMENT:

• Ability to remain alert at all times and to stand for multiple hours.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including multiple nights and/or weekends.
• Ability to work weekends
• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs

LOCATION:  1071 5th Avenue, New York, NY

WORK SCHEDULE: 4 hour shifts a day, Schedule TBD; ending January 10, 2027

POSITION TYPE:  Part-time, Non-Exempt. This position may become a position covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Local 2110 UAW.   

SALARY RANGE: $24.00 - $25.00 per hour
