About the role
As a Visitor Experience Floor Associate at the Brooklyn Museum, you'll play a vital role in welcoming guests and ensuring a smooth, inclusive, and engaging experience for all who enter our doors. From managing entry to exhibitions and processing admission to staffing Coat Check and providing wayfinding assistance, you'll be on the front lines of our commitment to hospitality, access, and education.

Responsibilities
Greet all visitors with warmth and professionalism while clearly communicating exhibition guidelines, ticketing policies, daily events, and wayfinding information
Sell Museum admission, event tickets, and Memberships using the point-of-sale system, processing both cash and credit card transactions
Manage visitor check-in and timed entry into exhibitions and program spaces
Monitor and manage lines for ticketed exhibitions and events, ensuring efficient entry and a positive experience for guests
Staff Coat Check by carefully storing, retrieving, and organizing visitor belongings
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Museum exhibitions, programming, Membership benefits, events, and operational updates
Provide directions and general assistance to help visitors navigate the building comfortably
Scan tickets and assist with visitor services during special events, including those held outside regular Museum hours (shifts assigned on a rotating basis)
Participate in daily Morning Meetings at the start of each shift and training sessions
Review daily shift notes and attend staff meetings to stay informed and aligned
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of front desk areas, coat check, equipment, and personal workspace.
Perform other duties reasonably related to the responsibilities described above
Qualifications
Strong customer service skills in a fast-paced, public-facing environment
Positive approach and ability to work well on a team
Experience handling cash and operating a POS system
Ability to learn and communicate detailed ticketing policies effectively
Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all visitors
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs
Ability to communicate Museum policies in a friendly but firm manner to ensure safety and respect for all guests
Fluency in a language other than English a plus
Interest in the arts or museum field
Familiarity with Brooklyn Museum exhibitions and programming
High school diploma or equivalent

Hourly Rate: $24.00/hour
FLSA status: Non-Exempt
Schedule: 3 days a week for total of 21 hours per week is the minimum. Saturday and Sunday shifts are mandatory and third day to be discussed/determine. Additional hours may be assigned/requested based on special events at the Museum. The First Saturday events and quarterly training session are mandatory shifts.
