Looking for a career in the aging sector or an opportunity to make a difference for the lives of older adults, the Pikes Peak Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging in Colorado is seeking three VISTAs to work in the Pikes Peak Region, Leadville, Buena Vista and Trinidad areas. Our mission, as a voluntary organization of 22 counties and municipalities, is to provide a forum for local governments to discuss issues that cross their political boundaries, identify shared opportunities and challenges, and develop collaborative strategies for action. Benefits include tapping into service area experts in the field of aging, experiencing the strategic workings of government and accessing exceptional recreational opportunities during time off. VISTAs will engage in program capacity building to serve older adults in the Pikes Peak Region and other mountain and plains communities. A great opportunity for someone going into a career serving older adults, community health, nonprofit work or a person seeking a solid project to apply their skills and talents at this time in their life. They will work closely with experts in the older adult sector while they develop recommendations for educational content, outreach calendar, communication templates and media connections, recruitment, on-boarding and retention strategies for advisory councils. Resources and checklists created will be utilized by staff to implement programming. Member Duties : Develop materials and calendar for recruiting, onboarding and retaining Regional Advisory Council members for Area Agency on Aging. Create annual calendar and outreach materials for education classes and podcasts targeting older adults.
