Job Description

Title: Visual Arts Teacher Leader

Positions:

pK-6 Visual Arts Teacher Leader

7-12 Visual Arts Teacher Leader

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid New York State teacher certification and actively teaching visual arts
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of curriculum and the instructional process
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an educational setting
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of staff and groups

Responsibilities: Shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the development and implementation of the district's Visual Arts curriculum, pathways, and initiatives
  • Lead and participate in pilots and program reviews to evaluate new Visual Arts instructional materials, software, and methods
  • Gather feedback and information to assess department and pathways needs
  • Oversee the department budget and manage the ordering, provisioning, and distribution of materials
  • Assist teachers in the analysis, interpretation, and application of student participation and performance data
  • Attend identified training and professional development deemed appropriate by the administration
  • Facilitate professional learning, including workshops, demonstrations, and targeted presentations for the Visual Arts PLC or Department
  • Serve as a consultant to Building Leadership Teams and any relevant district-level committees
  • Provide input on district-based professional development, staff programs, and conference-day planning
  • Serve as an instructional consultant for department teachers
  • Meet monthly with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and other program teacher leaders, as necessary
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and document PLC meetings, including annual goal setting and professional learning
  • Communicate and share updates, data, and department initiatives at monthly building or department meetings
  • Assist district and building administration with operational logistics, including master schedule development
  • Develops the calendar of Visual Arts program events and collaborates with the other coordinators in scheduling events;
  • Assists in coordinating school and community events and resources;
  • Sets standards for the maintenance of supply inventory and records of other department equipment and materials;
  • Represents the Visual Arts faculty in matters concerning the public and other school districts (for example, Cobblestone, RIT, Nazareth, etc.)
  • Contribute to the hiring process by serving on designated interview committees.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all student, family, and staff information
  • Fulfill general teacher leader responsibilities, as assigned

Salary: As per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Teachers'

Association

Terms of Employment:

The position of Visual Arts Teacher Leaders are ten-month positions.

The terms established in accordance with the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association.

Evaluation:

Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by district administration.
