    Fall 2026 – Academic Credit Internship

At Alkemy X, our Production team is the organizational backbone of every project we deliver. And, Alkemy X is seeking a highly motivated Visual Effects Production Intern (Coordinator Track) to join our award-winning Visual Effects team for the Fall 2026 semester.

    This internship is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in visual effects production, project management, or post-production. Working alongside experienced Producers, Coordinators, and Visual Effects Supervisors, the intern will gain meaningful, hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a professional visual effects studio while supporting productions for feature films, episodic television, and streaming platforms, and building the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue a career in VFX production.

    This is a structured educational internship intended to provide real-world learning experiences while introducing students to the collaborative workflows, communication, organization, and production processes that drive world-class visual effects.

    The internship is offered for academic credit only. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college or university and eligible to receive academic credit through their educational institution.

    The intern will report directly to the VFX Executive Producer, with additional mentorship and guidance provided by Executive Vice President of Visual Effects, as well as the members of Alkemy X's VFX Production Department.


    What You'll Learn

    Throughout the internship, you'll gain practical experience with the production workflow of a leading visual effects studio, including:

    • How visual effects projects move from award through final delivery
    • The roles and responsibilities of Producers, Coordinators, Supervisors, Artists, Editors, and other production personnel
    • Production scheduling, organization, and workflow management
    • Shot tracking, task management, and production databases
    • Daily reviews ("dailies") and client review sessions
    • Communication and collaboration across creative and technical teams
    • Production documentation and project organization
    • Industry best practices for visual effects production
    • Professional standards expected within feature film and episodic television visual effects


    Responsibilities

    Working alongside experienced members of the Production Department, responsibilities may include:

    • Assist Producers and Production Coordinators with the day-to-day organization of active visual effects projects.
    • Participate in production meetings and daily review ("dailies") sessions by taking detailed notes and distributing follow-up information when appropriate.
    • Help maintain accurate project information, task assignments, production schedules, and milestones within the studio's production tracking systems.
    • Update project databases to ensure work status, artist assignments, client notes, and production milestones remain current and organized.
    • Assist with tracking shots, assets, versions, client feedback, and project deliverables throughout each stage of production.
    • Support communication between Producers, Supervisors, Artists, Editorial, and other departments to help ensure projects remain organized and on schedule.
    • Assist in preparing materials and organizing internal and client review sessions.
    • Help maintain project documentation, reference materials, production files, and meeting notes.
    • Monitor project action items and assist the production team in following up on outstanding tasks.
    • Assist with administrative and operational tasks that contribute to the successful execution of visual effects projects.
    • Participate in department meetings and gain exposure to production planning, scheduling, staffing, and project management practices.
    • Perform research and special projects that support the continued growth and success of Alkemy X's Entertainment Visual Effects department.
    • Learn professional communication, organization, and project management techniques directly from experienced visual effects professionals.


    Qualifications

    We're looking for someone who is organized, intellectually curious, dependable, collaborative, and excited to begin a career in visual effects production.

    Ideal candidates will possess:

    • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
    • Eligibility to receive academic credit for the internship.
    • Interest in visual effects, film, television, animation, post-production, or digital media.
    • Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
    • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
    • Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication within a remote team environment.
    • Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative mindset.
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive).
    • Familiarity with Slack or similar collaboration tools.
    • Experience with Autodesk Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid), ftrack, or other production management software is a plus, but not required.

    Semester: Fall 2026

    Location: Remote

    Schedule: Flexible based upon academic schedule

    Academic Credit: Required

    Duration: One academic semester, with the opportunity to continue for additional semesters based on performance, academic eligibility, and departmental needs.
