VMware Engineer - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a VMware Engineer - Hybrid position with a Major Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role is part of a large-scale Data Center Exit program and requires additional engineering capacity to support both the Storage and Compute/Virtualization workstreams. The successful candidate will be involved in storage migrations, server and virtual machine migrations, environment builds, and decommissioning activities. This position requires close coordination with application, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure business continuity while minimizing operational risk.

Responsibilities:

• Configure, administer, and monitor enterprise-wide virtual infrastructure, cloud & on-prem [35%]
• Design and implement virtualization infrastructure including hardware and supporting services, cloud & on-prem [35%]
• R&D – architect, engineer and innovate [30%]
• Act as a catalyst for change

• Strong customer service skills to deliver quality results in a demanding environment

Requirements:

• 5-7 years VMware engineering 
• Certification(s) a plus
• Extensive knowledge of VMware solutions
• vSphere, vCenter Server, ESXi Hypervisor, vLCM/VUM, Site Recovery Manager, Aria Operations Manager, Aria Automation, NSX, Aria Operations for Logs, vSAN, Skyline, Tanzu, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware HCX
• Design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise scale systems
• Expert level in troubleshooting and support of ESXi, virtual machines, Guest OS, network, and storage 
• Experience with Containers
• Kubernetes, Docker, IBM OpenShift
• Experience with capacity planning, configuration management and forecasting growth
• Experience in cloud technologies & services 
• IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
• Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP
• VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Services, Google Cloud VMware Engine
• Extensive knowledge of Converged Infrastructure
• DellEMC VBlock, VxBlock, Cisco UCS (Blade Servers, Rack Servers)
• Extensive knowledge of Hyper-Converged Infrastructure
• DellEMC VxRail, vSAN Ready Nodes, Nutanix
• Experience with design, implementation, and support in a globally dispersed enterprise 
• Experience in Guest Operating Systems
• Windows Server (2012, 2016, +), RHEL, SUSE, CentOS, etc.
• Excellent experience in scripting & automation
• Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Aria Orchestrator
• API, PowerShell, PowerCLI, VBScript, Pearl
• Automate repeatable processes and reports
• Source code management / repository 
• Excellent experience in backup solutions for virtualized environments
• TSM, TSM/VE, Spectrum Protect, Rubrik and NetBackup
• Experience in EMC storage arrays
• EMC VMAX/PMAX, VNX, VNXe, Unity, XtremeIO, PowerStore, PowerPath 
• Experience with Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB protocols
• Develop and document process and procedures
• Runbooks, internal KB articles, technical diagrams
• Excellent knowledge of troubleshooting, triage, and root cause analysis
• Execute standard operating procedures to implement changes to production and non-production environments following change control management protocols
• Engineer, deploy and innovate solutions for the enterprise while maintaining existing technologies
• Experience in Project Management 
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook
• Occasional evening & weekend support 

Pay range up to: $65.92 per hour
