The client is seeking a VMware Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a highly available, secure, and resilient enterprise virtualization environment supporting our state client. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring operational stability across VMware-based infrastructure platforms, supporting production systems that require strict uptime, security, and disaster recovery standards. While familiarity with the skills listed is important, the candidate needs to be highly proficient in Windows Server operating system vulnerability remediation. The client has an existing patching team, but the resource must be able to resolve issues when automated OS patching fails.

Responsibilities:

  • Servicing Stack Knowledge: Deep understanding of Component-Based Servicing (CBS) and the WinSxS folder.
  • Repair Tool Mastery: Advanced use of DISM (including /RestoreHealth with external sources) and SFC utilities.
  • PowerShell Scripting: Ability to automate the resetting of the Windows Update Agent and clearing the SoftwareDistribution cache.
  • Environment Management: Proficient in Tanium
  • Storage & Partitioning: Troubleshooting disk space issues within the System Reserved Partition and Volume Shadow Copies.
  • Security Interoperability: Identifying conflicts between the Trusted Installer service and EDR/Antivirus agents
  • Enterprise Virtualization Management
    • Administer and manage large-scale VMware environments, including VMware vSphere and VMware vCenter Server
    • Design, configure, and maintain ESXi hosts, clusters, and resource pools
    • Optimize virtual infrastructure performance, capacity, and scalability Finish
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery
    • Implement high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions aligned to RPO/RTO requirements
    • Configure and manage disaster recovery technologies (replication, failover, failback)
    • Execute DR testing, failover scenarios, and recovery validation
    • Ensure business continuity across critical applications and infrastructure platforms
  • Storage Integration & Optimization
    • Integrate VMware platforms with enterprise storage (SAN/NAS, vSAN)
    • Manage storage provisioning, replication strategies, and performance tuning
    • Collaborate with storage teams supporting NetApp, Infinidat, or similar platforms
  • Core Infrastructure Services
    • Support dependencies including:
      • DNS, DHCP, IPAM
      • TCP/IP networking and segmentation strategies
