Position Summary Northville High School is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and experienced Vocal Music Director for our upcoming spring musical. The Vocal Music Director will work closely with the theatre director, production team, and student performers to prepare and lead the musical's vocal music program. The ideal candidate will possess strong vocal and musical expertise, experience working with high school students, proficiency in piano, and a passion for helping young performers develop their musical skills and confidence.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a vocalist, vocal instructor, music director, choir director, or related professional
• Experience working with high school students (strongly preferred)
• Strong knowledge of vocal technique, music theory, ensemble singing, and musical theatre repertoire
• Ability to teach and communicate effectively with students of varying experience levels
• Ability to read music, play piano and teach vocal parts accurately
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
• Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
• Prior musical theater or production experience (preferred)

Typical Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare students to perform the musical's vocal music at a high level appropriate for an outstanding high school production
• Lead and conduct vocal rehearsals, including ensemble, small-group, and individual work as needed
• Teach vocal parts, harmonies, diction, phrasing, musical style, and performance techniques
• Help students develop healthy and effective singing techniques
• Collaborate with the theatre director, accompanist (if different from VMD), choreographer, pit orchestra, and other members of the production team
• Attend scheduled rehearsals and production meetings
• Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to student performers
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive rehearsal environment
• Perform other duties related to the musical as assigned
