Vocal Music Teacher (Grades 5-12)
The New Lisbon School District is seeking a passionate and student-centered Vocal Music Teacher to lead and grow a comprehensive music program serving students in grades 5-12. This position offers the opportunity to build strong choral traditions while expanding performance and musical experiences for students at all levels.
Position Overview
The selected candidate will provide vocal music instruction across upper elementary, junior high, and high school levels, while leading a dynamic choral program that emphasizes student growth, performance, and musical excellence.
This role is part of a collaborative 7-12 staff committed to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) process, where teams work together to ensure high levels of learning for all students.
Curricular Responsibilities
Upper Elementary General Music (Grades 5-6)
Junior High General Music
High School Music Theory
Junior High Choir (Grades 7-8)
High School Concert Choir
Individual Voice Lessons
Co-Curricular & Performance Expectations
Plan and direct four (4) concerts annually, including elementary programs
Prepare students for and participate in:
WSMA Concert Festival
Solo & Ensemble Festival
Local and State Honors Choirs
Coordinate and support fundraising efforts for the music program
Extracurricular Opportunities (Based on Interest/Experience)
Vocal Director for the School Musical
Musical Production Support (Producer/Co-Director - optional)
Development of Chamber Singers / Madrigal Ensemble
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in musical theater or stage productions, but this is not required.
Qualifications
Valid Wisconsin teaching license in Vocal/General Music (or ability to obtain)
Strong vocal pedagogy and choral directing skills
Ability to build positive relationships with students across grade levels
Effective communication and collaboration with staff, families, and community
Willingness to contribute to a collaborative school culture
