SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION
The Human Body Systems Teacher will be responsible for instruction and supervision of students in the Health Sciences Academy at Crispus Attucks High School. This includes training and preparing students in the field of healthcare, specifically as it relates to human body systems, encouraging successful achievement of certifications, dual credit, and professional skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess four to five years of experience within the healthcare industry. Teaching experience in a high school or technical school setting is preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must be eligible through the Indiana Department of Education for a CTE Health Occupations license or be eligible for a Workplace Specialist License in any CTE Health Science area. If pursuing the Workplace Specialist License, candidate must have verifiable occupational experience in a related field, meeting 6,000 hours, 3 years of experience in the last five years, or 4,000 hours in the past 10 years with one of the following Occupational licensure:
In addition, the teacher must successfully complete a two-week Project Lead the Way training.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively. This includes:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities for adults, but is expected to carry out supervisory responsibilities related to monitoring student behavior and activities both in and out of the classroom during the assigned working day and on learning excursions.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
